Rev. 6:12 “And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal.... 15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?”
The Sixth Chapter of The Revelation is a chapter of outlines. It summarizes everything that is going to happen on earth between the time of the Ascension of Our Lord Jesus Christ and His return. The first four seals that are revealed in first eleven verses of the Sixth Chapter of The Revelation are a prophetic summary showing the religious, economic, and political forces that are going shape the world during the church age. The spread of these forces over the Earth is covered in America in Prophecy. The vision shown to John under the fifth seal is an outline of the time in which we are now living. This vision is discussed on the the Fifth Seal page. And the verses quoted above then outline the judgment from God that is going to fall upon the Earth as a result of mankind’s abuse of the Freedom that God has given us. This vision is discussed on the pages entitled The Sixth Seal and The Seventh Seal. Everything that was shown to us when the Lamb of God removed the first Six Seals from the Revelation was a synopsis of the things that were going to be revealed under the seventh seal. The Seventh Seal revealed everything else in the Revelation in a series of visions that go into greater detail about the things that were revealed by the removal of the first six seals. The events described in the visions of the seventh seal are not repetitions of those events but reiterations giving more details about them.
The Kingdom of the Dragon will have come to power, but will not have been in power for a very long time before Jesus returns to earth to defeat it. (Rev. 13:5, Dan. 8:24 - 25) The end of temporal history, and the beginning of the Millennial Kingdom are marked by the defeat of the Kingdom of the Dragon by Jesus Christ and His saints when He returns to earth.
Joel 3:16-20 The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel. 17 So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more. 18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim. 19 Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land. 20 But Judah shall dwell for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation.
The prophet, Joel, said that when Jesus roars out of Zion against the Empire of the Dragon, the heavens and the earth will shake. Heb. 12:26-29 says, concerning this time when the heaven and earth will be shaken, “Whose voice then shook the earth : but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. 27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: 29 For our God is a consuming fire.”
Isaiah prophesied concerning this time saying, “And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. 12 I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir. 13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.” (Isa. 13:11-13 ) and Isaiah 24:1 tells us, “Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down , and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.” In light of these two scriptures it is not hard to understand Rev. 7:16 “They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.” and Zech 14:6-7 “And it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark: (Literally, it shall not be clear in some places, and dark in other places of the world). 7 But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light.” John saw these events in his visions of The Revelation and described them thusly in Rev. 16:8 & 16: 10 “And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire... 10 And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness;”
It is apparent that Jesus Christ will defeat the Kingdom of the Dragon using the forces that hold the universe together. He is the power which holds it all together (Heb. 1:3) and with a Word from His Mouth, He loosens it to fall completely apart. The last events in the defeat of the Dragon and His Kingdom happen very quickly in sequence when Jesus roars out of Zion to make war in righteousness against all who hate him. Two of those events say that the sun will be loosed to explode and earth will be tossed out of its current orbit and turned over. At that time the above passages concerning sunlight and darkness will be literally fulfilled.
So quickly, completely, and devastatingly does Jesus defeat the armies of the Dragon that everyone who survives that Battle goes back to his homeland with the news that there is a Mighty King in Jerusalem. Zech 14:16 “And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.”
